Daniel Kahan of Smith and Moore Architects designed this single-story Classical Modern estate in 2016, organized around an interior courtyard with a detached guest house, on just under one acre in the Estate Section of Palm Beach. David General Contracting built the residence, with landscape architecture by Mario Nievera of Nievera Williams Design. The property received the Preservation Foundation's 2019 Schuler Award.

Architecture & Design
The steel-frame construction allows for 12-foot French doors throughout the residence, creating continuous sightlines between interior rooms and the central courtyard. The living room rises to approximately 15-foot ceilings, with 14-foot ceilings carried through the remaining principal rooms. The one-story plan wraps the courtyard on multiple sides, a layout that gives nearly every room direct access to outdoor space while maintaining privacy from Jungle Road.
Energy infrastructure includes over 200 solar panels concealed within rooftop gardens, a detail that contributes to the building's sustainability profile without altering the Classical Modern facade. The Schuler Award specifically recognizes architecture that advances the aesthetic character of Palm Beach, and the panel integration is consistent with that standard.
Interior Sequence
The formal living room anchors the plan with a fireplace and the tallest ceiling volume in the house. A formal dining room and billiards room extend the entertaining axis. The library, office, family room, and home gym occupy quieter wings of the courtyard plan, separating daytime use from the sleeping quarters.
The primary kitchen is outfitted as a professional chef's space with an oversized eat-in island, supported by a buffet room and a separate prep kitchen. Oak flooring runs throughout the residence. The detached guest house contains two suites, each with an ensuite bath and dual vanities, providing self-contained accommodations separated from the main residence.
Outdoor Living & Grounds
The courtyard plan generates multiple outdoor zones: a dining patio, a loggia scaled for group entertaining, a rooftop lounge, and a cabana. The pool measures approximately 55 feet, configured as a lap pool with a sun shelf and integrated spa. Nievera Williams handled the full landscape program, including the rooftop garden system that screens the solar array.
At just under one acre, the parcel is substantial for the Estate Section, where most lots range between a half-acre and an acre. The two-car garage is modest relative to the house; buyers who require additional vehicle storage should evaluate options for covered parking within the existing footprint.
Location & Access
Jungle Road sits within the Estate Section, the stretch of Palm Beach between the ocean and Lake Worth south of Barton Avenue. While this parcel is not waterfront, the Estate Section commands the island's highest land values due to lot size, mature landscaping, and proximity to both the beach and the Lake Trail. Palm Beach International Airport is approximately ten minutes west via the Royal Park Bridge. Worth Avenue and the commercial core of Palm Beach are a short drive south along County Road.
