The Complete Guide to Palm Beach’s Social Season (2026 to 2027)

Nikko Karki

The season returns to Palm Beach in November, and the invitations are already moving. This is the complete guide to the winter ahead: the eight evenings that define the 2026 to 2027 season, the full calendar of announced dates from the November previews through the spring finale, the institutions and private clubs that carry the island's social life, and the venues where all of it happens. Organizations publish their dates in waves through the fall, and this guide grows with the calendar.

The Evenings That Define the Season

Not every evening on the Palm Beach calendar carries the same weight. Eight of them organize the winter around themselves, and serious residents plan the season from these dates outward. The full calendar follows below.

The arc they trace is the season itself. December belongs to the holiday balls and to Whitehall's midnight, the Flagler Museum's New Year's Eve in Henry Flagler's own ballroom, which has become the island's definitive way to open a year. Hospice Evening opens February's marquee stretch, the Heart Ball in its seventy-second year remains the season's grandest single night, and the Cleveland Clinic Ball two nights later completes the Breakers' heaviest week. The Preservation Foundation closes February at Phipps Ocean Park, the one anchor held under the stars rather than a chandelier, and the Boat Show carries the season out on the waterfront in March.

One tradition is still to be dated. The International Red Cross Ball, the evening that has anchored island Januarys for more than six decades, announces later in the fall, and it joins this list the moment it does.

The 2026 to 2027 Season Calendar

Every date below has been announced by its host organization or published in the save-the-date record. The list grows weekly through the fall, September and October are the heavy announcement months, and this guide is refreshed as the calendar fills, so an evening's absence means pending, not canceled. Beyond the ballrooms, Sunday polo at the National Polo Center in Wellington runs January through April on dates the club announces, and the season's rhythm is worth knowing even if you never wear black tie: as our seasonality study measures, the same weeks that fill the ballrooms fill the showing calendars, and the social peak precedes the spring closing peak by roughly the length of an escrow.

The Institutions

The cultural institutions give the season its depth. The galas photograph better, but the exhibitions, lectures, and performances are what fill the weeks between them, and attending the right ones is as much a part of living the season well as any ballroom. Most announce their winter programming in the early fall.

The Society of the Four Arts

Ten acres on the Intracoastal, founded in 1936: galleries, a performance hall, the King Library, and the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden. The winter lecture series is the island's intellectual common ground, drawing heads of state, historians, and performers to a room that seats a few hundred, and the season's roster lands in the fall announcements.

Norton Museum of Art

The county's premier art museum, reimagined by Foster and Partners into limestone galleries, interior gardens, and a sculpture garden. The Norton's winter exhibition and its gala are fixtures of the February calendar, with this season's dates pending announcement.

Glazer Hall

The island's first new nonprofit performing arts venue in more than sixty years enters its first full season. The restored Royal Poinciana Playhouse, a John L. Volk building from 1958, holds four hundred seats and a glass back wall onto the Intracoastal, and its inaugural spring set the bar with American Ballet Theatre and Renee Fleming. The first complete winter of programming is the cultural story of the season ahead.

Palm Beach Symphony

The Symphony marks its twenty-fifth anniversary this season, and the milestone shapes its calendar: a gala kickoff at Findlay Galleries on January 7 and the anniversary gala, A Standing Ovation, at The Breakers on February 15. Masterworks performances run at the Kravis Center through the winter.

Palm Beach Opera

The Opera Guild celebrates its sixty-fifth anniversary with a gala at the Four Seasons on January 18, and the company's mainstage productions at the Kravis Center remain one of the winter's serious cultural tickets.

The Flagler Museum

Whitehall is both museum and stage. This season it hosts the Twelve Trees of Christmas luncheon on November 30, the Midnight at Whitehall New Year's Eve celebration, the Place of Hope dinner on January 22, and the Garden Club's Flower Show preview on April 9, a run that makes Henry Flagler's house the busiest historic venue on the island.

Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach

The foundation protects the island's physical identity, the Mizner courtyards and Fatio facades and Volk streetscapes, and its Annual Dinner Dance on February 26 gathers the town at Phipps Ocean Park, whose restoration the foundation itself led.

Art Fairs and Design Events

The cultural calendar brackets the season. Art Basel Miami Beach, December 2 through 6 with preview days on the 2nd and 3rd, opens the winter's art circuit an hour south, and half the island makes the drive. The Palm Beach Show brings jewelry, art, and antiques to the county convention center February 11 through 16, overlapping the Fine Craft Show on the same floor, and Art Palm Beach traditionally fills late January with its contemporary fair, on dates pending announcement.

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House returns for its tenth Palm Beach edition this winter on dates pending announcement, a design-world pilgrimage that draws fifteen thousand visitors through a single reimagined house. The Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 17 through 21 on the West Palm Beach waterfront, is the season's traditional finale at scale, and its week doubles as the busiest showing stretch of the spring market, a collision our seasonal calendar study treats as no coincidence at all.

The Private Clubs

Private clubs are central to Palm Beach social life, and they operate on their own logic: membership is by invitation, the process is gradual, and it is designed that way. Several of the season's best evenings happen inside them.

The Everglades Club

The island's most exclusive club, in a historic Addison Mizner building at the head of Worth Avenue since 1919. Membership is by invitation only, and the club maintains no public website, which tells you most of what you need to know.

Bath and Tennis Club

Oceanfront on the island's south end, and second only to the Everglades in the island's club hierarchy. Membership is by invitation and requires sponsorship.

Sailfish Club

The north end's club on the Lake Worth Lagoon, and this season's host of two calendar fixtures: the Peggy Adams Christmas Ball on December 10, in its fifty-fifth year, and the St. Ann Place dinner dance on February 27.

Beach Club

A quiet heavyweight of the charity calendar. This season it hosts the Angels in White luncheon, the New Hope Charities Holiday Bazaar, the Dana-Farber breakfast, and the Fellowship of Christians and Jews dinner.

Club Colette

The dinner club on Peruvian Avenue remains the season's most intimate gala room. Four evenings on the announced calendar happen there, from the Red Sneakers benefit in November through the Promise Party in March.

Palm Beach Country Club

Golf, tennis, and social programming on the island's north end, with a charitable tradition that runs deep in the membership.

On joining any of them: there is no application to submit. Membership comes through proposal by existing members, a review, and an invitation extended by the committee, on a timeline that typically runs a year or more. For those new to the island, the reliable approach is to build genuine relationships within the community and let membership follow naturally, which it does.

Key Venues

The season happens in perhaps a dozen rooms, and knowing them is half of knowing the calendar.

The Breakers

The stage on which the season's most formal evenings are composed, and the announced calendar's busiest address by a wide margin: the Heart Ball, the Cleveland Clinic Ball, Hospice Evening, the Symphony's anniversary gala, and a dozen more evenings this winter. The Mediterranean Revival architecture participates in the event. The resort also offers golf and pool memberships through an application process separate from the island's invitation-only clubs.

Whitehall

Henry Flagler's 1902 mansion, now the Flagler Museum, lends the season its Gilded Age register, from the Twelve Trees luncheon to the midnight of New Year's Eve.

Mar-a-Lago

Marjorie Merriweather Post's 1927 estate operates as a private club and hosts a run of the season's major benefits, this year including the Old Bags Luncheon, the Valentine luncheon, and two of the spring's dinner dances.

Four Seasons Palm Beach

The island's south-end resort hosts the Opera Guild's sixty-fifth anniversary gala in January and a steady calendar of smaller benefit dinners through the winter.

The Colony

The pink hotel off Worth Avenue is the room for the season's more intimate evenings, the Civic Association's holiday reception and the Historical Society's Archival Evening among them.

Phipps Ocean Park

The season's newest stage. The Preservation Foundation's February dinner dance gathers the town on the oceanfront park the foundation restored, the one marquee evening held in open air.

Worth Avenue

Mizner's masterwork runs its own season of openings, exhibitions, and the historical walking tour, and the architecture reveals itself one arched passageway at a time.

Entering the Season

The season looks closed from outside and is deliberately porous in practice. Nearly every evening on the calendar above is a charity benefit with tables sold through the host organization, and buying one, then joining the committee the following year, remains the established route from attending to belonging. The private club evenings require membership or a member's invitation, and the clubs' own calendars run parallel to everything listed here. For newcomers timing a move around the season, the housing market's version of this calendar is our island buyer's briefing, and the two calendars reward the same discipline: arrange things before the season starts, because nothing on the island is easier to get in August than in February.

Bottom Line

February carries the deepest calendar of the winter, the Breakers hosts more of the season's marquee evenings than any other address, and the Boat Show closes the season on the waterfront in mid-March. Between the November previews and the May annual meetings, the island runs on this calendar, and the guide grows as the remaining dates are announced.

For readers planning the season: Book the anchors first. The Breakers' February evenings sell their tables earliest, the club evenings require a member at your side, and every Palm Beach season rewards the same strategy, which is earliness.

This guide compiles the announced dates of the 2026 to 2027 Palm Beach season: evenings confirmed by host organizations or published in the Palm Beach Daily News save-the-date record, plus the published schedules of the season's major fairs and shows. The calendar reflects announcements current at publication and is refreshed as organizations publish through the season, so an evening's absence means its date is pending. Dates, venues, and formats are set by the host organizations and can change. Confirm directly before planning.

Frequently Asked Questions
The 2026 to 2027 season opens in practice with the November charity previews, the Garden Club's Christmas Boutique Preview on November 11 among the first dated evenings, builds through the December holiday balls, and runs at full intensity from January through the Palm Beach International Boat Show in mid-March 2027.
The confirmed anchors include Hospice Evening on February 4, the 72nd Palm Beach Heart Ball on February 18, the Cleveland Clinic Ball on February 20, and the Preservation Foundation's Annual Dinner Dance on February 26, 2027, with the Breakers hosting the heaviest share of the marquee evenings. Additional flagship dates are announced through the fall.
March 17 through 21, 2027, along Flagler Drive on the West Palm Beach waterfront, the season's traditional closing weekend at scale. Art Basel Miami Beach opens the winter's cultural calendar on December 2 through 6, 2026, and the Palm Beach Show runs February 11 through 16, 2027.
Most of the season's evenings are charity benefits with tickets and tables available through the host organizations, and buying a table is the traditional first step into the season. The private club evenings require membership or a member's invitation, and committee participation with a charity remains the established route from attending the season to belonging to it.
