Marcio Kogan of Studio mk27 designed this single-story modernist residence on an oversized 40,000-square-foot lot in the Singer Island section of Palm Beach. Completed in 2017 and recognized with the Preservation Society's 2020 Schuler Award, the home dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior through floor-to-ceiling Vitrocsa glass walls, continuous travertine flooring, and a spatial plan organized around lush garden courts.

Architecture & Design by Studio mk27
Kogan's design arranges the program along a single story, using expansive glass enclosures to transform the living room into an open-air pavilion when desired. Teak rods line the ceilings throughout, and travertine flooring runs seamlessly from interior rooms to exterior terraces, physically and visually uniting the spaces. A sculptural Virginia flagstone wall serves as the primary organizing element, separating the social areas from the private wing.
Interior design is by Diana Radomysler. Landscape architecture is by Keith Williams of Nievera Williams Design. The collaboration between all three studios produced a residence that earned the Preservation Society's 2020 Schuler Award for architectural significance.
Interior Sequence
The social wing centers on the glass-enclosed living room, which opens directly to garden views on multiple sides. Beyond the glass, the outdoor living room is anchored by a dramatic metal fireplace suspended from the ceiling. The Virginia flagstone wall marks the transition into the private wing, where the kitchen, office, and media room are positioned.
The primary suite is set within the private wing as a self-contained retreat with an oversized walk-in closet, dual bathrooms, and direct views into the surrounding gardens. Three additional bedrooms occupy the private wing, each with access to the grounds.
Outdoor Living & Grounds
The 0.94-acre lot supports extensive loggias, a heated pool, and tropical landscaping by Nievera Williams Design. A living wall functions as both an artistic element and a transitional device connecting interior and exterior spaces. The travertine flooring that begins inside extends outward beneath covered loggias, reinforcing the continuity Kogan intended between built and natural environments.
