Palm Beach does not host the biggest week of its own art season, and it has made peace with that. The season guide to the island's social winter tracks the ballrooms. This page tracks the art: the December exodus to Miami, the fairs that follow at the county convention center, the museum winters and the gallery walls. Every date below comes from the organizer itself, and the pending rows say so plainly.
In This Report
The Shape of the Art Season
The structure is simple once you see it. The museums open first: the Norton hangs its winter in late October, before the crowds arrive, so the shows are on the walls when the season starts in earnest. Miami Art Week lands in early December and pulls the whole county south for five days. Then the circuit comes home. From late January to mid-February the county convention center stages its own run of fairs. By the time the last fair closes, the museum shows are in their final weeks.
That arc rewards planning in both directions. The collectors who do the season well book December first, because fair-week hotels and preview credentials are the scarce goods. The island end asks less: the West Palm Beach fairs are a bridge crossing away, and the museum shows run for months.
The 2026-27 art calendar is still filling in. Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary has not published its 2027 dates, NADA has not dated its Miami edition, and New Wave has announced its spring move without the weekend itself. This page is refreshed as organizers publish, so a missing date is pending rather than passed over.
The Dated Calendar
One table, museum runs and fairs together, in calendar order. Exact dates appear only where the organizer has published them. Highlighted rows are the three anchors of the winter.

December and Miami Art Week
For one week in early December the center of the art world sits seventy miles south of the island, and half of Palm Beach goes to meet it. Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 2 through 6 at the convention center, with preview days on December 2 and 3. The previews are where the serious buying happens, and credentials come through galleries, advisors and the fair's own patron tiers.
The satellites make the week. Art Miami predates Basel's arrival in the city by two decades. It runs December 1 through 6 on the downtown waterfront at One Herald Plaza, with its VIP preview on December 1. NADA, the young dealers' fair, has not yet dated its 2026 edition. Most Palm Beach collectors build the week around one Basel day, one satellite day and a museum or private collection visit between them.

The Palm Beach Fairs
The county's own fair season opens seven weeks after Basel closes. Art Palm Beach takes the convention center January 27 through 31, five days of modern and contemporary work that mark the circuit's return home. It is the fair to walk with a short list, because the booths reward a second visit and the room never fights you for them.
February belongs to the Palm Beach Show, the season's largest floor. The twenty-fourth edition runs February 11 through 16 over Presidents' Day weekend, opening with an evening preview, and it ranges from jewelry and antiques to modern pictures. The Palm Beach Fine Craft Show shares the building February 12 to 14, which makes the middle weekend the densest collecting days the county stages.
The last fair of the winter is the one still unannounced. Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, presented by Art Miami, has published no 2027 dates. Its 2026 edition ran in mid-March, and the row above flips from pending to dated the day the organizer posts.
The Museum Winter
The fairs make the headlines and the museums make the season. The county's institutions hang their most ambitious work for the winter months, and the shows below are already dated. The galas and benefit evenings these institutions stage are tracked in the season guide's calendar rather than here.
The county's premier art museum, reimagined by Norman Foster into limestone galleries and a sculpture garden, has already dated its winter. Visible Fictions, on photography and artifice, runs through February 21. Blazing Light, the Mimi Plumb survey, and the Gertrude Abercrombie retrospective both run October 31 to March 14.
norton.orgTen acres on the Intracoastal holding galleries, a performance hall and the winter lecture series that remains the island's intellectual common ground. A $250 million renovation has the O'Keeffe galleries dark into late 2027, this winter's lectures moved to Royal Poinciana Chapel, and our standing piece on the Four Arts covers the campus and its rhythm in full.
fourarts.orgWhitehall shows Gilded Age collections inside the house that built the island, and its winter exhibition program runs alongside the season's most storied venue calendar. The museum's music series brings chamber performances into the marble court through the winter.
flaglermuseum.usThe region's major performing arts venue is the connective tissue of the cultural winter. Its stages hold the Palm Beach Symphony's Masterworks, Palm Beach Opera's mainstage productions and a touring calendar that peaks in the fair months.
kravis.orgThe council is the clearinghouse for the county's cultural calendar, with its own galleries in Lake Worth Beach showing county artists. Its listings are the practical answer to a February evening with nothing booked.
palmbeachculture.comThe Gallery Landscape
Between fair weekends the season lives in the galleries, and the island's dealers cluster in two places. Worth Avenue holds the established trade, Findlay and Holden Luntz among dealers who have worked the street for decades. The Royal Poinciana Plaza holds the newer energy: Acquavella's only space outside Manhattan and Gavlak's contemporary program, the island's most significant.
Openings run on evenings from November through March, and the mainland adds its own rooms in West Palm Beach's plaza district. Our gallery season guide walks the whole landscape dealer by dealer, and the art of living piece places the galleries inside the island's broader cultural life.
Working the Circuit
The practical season is a transport question first. For the December week, Brightline is the answer most residents settle on: West Palm Beach to MiamiCentral in about seventy-five minutes, downtown to downtown, no fair-week parking. Trains run through the evening, which turns a Basel preview day into a day trip rather than a hotel stay.
Buying is simpler than the mystique suggests. At the booth, ask for the price and the condition report, and expect both without ceremony. The dealer arranges shipping, insurance in transit and delivery, and for the Miami fairs that means days rather than weeks. An advisor matters at the level where provenance and resale history carry real money. Below that level, the honest answer is that a collector with a good eye does not need one.
The quiet advantage of a Palm Beach base is that the season comes back to you. The December week is a trip. From late January on, everything sits within fifteen minutes of the island. The fairs, the museum shows and the gallery openings come to you, a kind of luxury the fair cities themselves never offer.
Bottom Line
The art winter in the Palm Beaches is one season with two addresses. Miami anchors the opening week and the county carries everything after it, from the convention center fairs to museum runs that stretch into spring. The dated rows above are confirmed by their organizers, the pending ones are named as pending, and this page is updated in place as the remaining announcements land.
For collectors planning the winter from the island: book the December week early, walk the home fairs with a short list, and let the museums fill the weeks between. The circuit is built for people who live here.

This guide compiles the announced dates of the 2026-27 art season in the Palm Beaches and the Miami fairs the county's collectors attend. A row carries an exact date only where the organizer's own site states it, and undated events are carried as pending. Every date was checked on October 5, 2026 against the organizer sites named in the sources below. The page is this site's evergreen art season guide: one URL, updated in place each season as organizers publish.
Fair rows shared with the social season guide match that guide's verified calendar. Gallery and institution facts are carried from the gallery season guide and the art of living piece, both maintained on this site.
