Palm Beach International Boat Show: The Complete Guide

Everything you need to know about the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The 2027 dates and hours, how the docks work for a serious buyer, the week around the show, and the waterfront that frames it.

West Palm Beach gives its waterfront to one event each year. For five days in March, temporary docks line Flagler Drive and more than a thousand boats tie up along the seawall. Everyone who buys, sells, builds or berths them arrives in the same half mile. The show is also the closing act of the Palm Beach season, and the water it floats on runs directly past the most consequential condominium corridor in the county. This guide covers all of it.

What the Show Is

The Palm Beach International Boat Show was first held in 1982 at Soverel Harbour in Palm Beach Gardens. The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County owns it, and Informa Markets produces it. The show long since moved to the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront and grew into one of the largest on-water boat shows in the country.

The setting is the point. There is no convention hall. The inventory floats on the Intracoastal along Flagler Drive, directly across the water from Palm Beach island, with the downtown towers behind the ticket gates. Organizers put the display at more than 1,000 boats from over 600 exhibiting brands, with vessels and gear valued around $1.2 billion.

The show lands in the final stretch of the winter calendar and serves as its traditional close at scale. The galas have largely run their course by mid-March, the town is still full, and the week concentrates the marine and waterfront markets in one place. The rest of that calendar lives in our Palm Beach season guide.

The 2027 Dates, Hours and Tickets

The 2027 edition runs Wednesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 21 along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach. The organizers have published the dates and daily hours. Insider Note

Wednesday and Thursday are the buyer days. The serious inventory gets walked, boarded and shortlisted before the weekend crowds arrive, and the brokers who matter are easiest to reach then. Plan the trip around the front half of the show.

How the Docks Work

The site is one long run of floating docks along the seawall, entered through gates on Flagler Drive. Exhibitors hold dock blocks, so new-build displays, brokerage fleets and charter vessels sit in named clusters rather than in a single sorted row. Tenders, center consoles and gear line the landside tents. First move on arrival: take the dock map and mark the exhibitors you came for, because the site rewards a plan and punishes a wander.

The largest vessels gather at the north end. The organizers stage a dedicated Superyacht Show at Palm Harbor Marina, the deep-water marina just up the seawall from the main gates. In recent editions, some of the most significant yachts in town never entered the show at all. They showed by private appointment at the Rybovich yard north of downtown. Access to those viewings travels through brokers, not through tickets.

Windward VIP is the show's announced premium tier, carrying early admission and access to the Windward Lounge. For a buyer it buys one real thing: the docks before the crowds. The lounge is pleasant, and the early hour is the value.

Buying at the Show

The show mixes two different purchases. A brokerage yacht is used inventory with a history: a survey record, a maintenance log and an owner with a reason to sell. A new build is a slot in a production line, bought off a hull on display and delivered on the builder's calendar, often a year or more away. The docks present both side by side, and the right answer depends on timeline more than taste.

A serious offer on a brokerage yacht follows a settled rhythm. The contract is written subject to sea trial and survey. The vessel is hauled and the hull and machinery inspected, with separate engine surveys on larger boats. The buyer accepts, renegotiates or walks on the findings. Surveyors and haul-out slots in South Florida book heavily in the weeks after the show, which is a reason to move early in the week rather than after it closes.

The discipline mirrors a waterfront house purchase: price the asset, inspect it without sentiment, and resolve where it will live before you close. Buyers who run those three in parallel during show week leave with a boat and a plan rather than a boat and a problem.

The Week Around the Show

Show week is the last full-pressure week of the Palm Beach winter. The island hotels carry the visiting trade, The Breakers and the Four Seasons above all, with The Colony taking the overflow of long-standing guests. On the West Palm Beach side, the hotels within walking distance of the docks fill first and earliest.

Dinner is the week's real scarcity. The island rooms that carry the season, Buccan and Imoto on South County Road and the dining rooms at The Breakers among them, are fully committed across the five nights. The practical rule: book the tables when you book the flights, and hold one night on the West Palm Beach side near the docks.

The town itself moves differently that week. The middle bridges stack at the evening close as the show empties toward the island, and the smart money walks or stays downtown. Brightline lands two blocks from the waterfront, which has quietly become the cleanest way in from Miami or Fort Lauderdale for a one-day visit. The private clubs run their busiest March stretch, and member dining books out alongside the restaurants.

Insider Note

The week rewards whoever needs the fewest reservations. Stay within reach of the docks, keep the calendar loose after Thursday, and leave room for the invitation that arrives mid-week. Every good show produces one.

The Waterfront Behind the Show

Stand on the docks and turn around. The show sits in front of the South Flagler corridor, the stretch of waterfront that now holds the deepest condominium pipeline in the county. Show week is the one time each year when thousands of qualified buyers see that corridor from the water. We cover it building by building.

South of the gates, South Flagler House is the corridor's defining project, and our buyer's guide to South Flagler House covers how to approach it. Forte on Flagler is the corridor's move-in-ready answer, read against its unbuilt rivals in our pipeline position analysis and in the Forte resale guide. The established benchmark a block south is covered in our 1100 South Flagler study.

For the full picture, the new-development map places every project in the county pipeline on one page. Gallery calendars tighten during show week the way dinner tables do, and the same early-in-the-week rule applies.

Where the Boat Lives

Every purchase on the docks raises the same question before closing: where the boat will live. In our footprint there are three honest answers, and each one is a real estate decision as much as a marine one.

The fullest community answer is Admirals Cove in Jupiter, built around a 77-slip deep-water marina with a slip mix that runs to yachts in the 100 to 130 foot range. Our water-position study prices what dockage behind the house is worth there. For larger sailing yachts and sportfish towers, Jupiter's no-fixed-bridge corridor is the constraint that decides the search.

The second answer is a private dock behind the house, from the Boca canals to the Palm Beach side of the Intracoastal. During the holiday boat parade, the best seats on the water are the private docks themselves. Before buying for dockage, read our waterfront title and riparian rights guide: the dock, the submerged land and the right to improve them are title questions, not assumptions.

The third answer is a commercial slip, from Palm Harbor Marina beside the show site to the yards north of downtown for vessels beyond private dockage. Slips at that scale are scarce, traded and waitlisted, and the search for one belongs on the same timeline as the boat itself.

Insider Note

Settle the dockage question before the boat closes. A vessel with no berth negotiates badly for both, and the right house with the right dock is a slower purchase than the boat.

Bottom Line

The Palm Beach International Boat Show is five days of floating inventory and one week of concentrated access. The buyers who get the most from it arrive for the front half and book the sea trial and the survey before the weekend. Where the boat will live is part of the purchase itself. The show returns to Flagler Drive in mid-March 2027, and this page is updated in place as the organizers announce.

For buyers planning the week: Book the tables when you book the flights, walk the docks early, and tell us if the week should include the waterfront itself.

All show details reflect organizer announcements as published and are subject to change. Confirm dates, hours and tickets on the official show site before planning travel.

This page is the permanent home of our boat show guide. One URL, updated in place each year as the organizers announce, on the same rule as our season guide. A detail missing from this page is pending rather than overlooked.

Dates policy: a fact appears here only when published by the show's organizers or another named source. The 2027 dates, daily hours, venue and programs were verified against pbboatshow.com on October 5, 2026. The verified programs include the Superyacht Show at Palm Harbor Marina and Windward VIP. Ticket pricing was unpublished on that date and is carried as pending. Show history (first edition 1982, Soverel Harbour, Palm Beach Gardens) follows the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County record.

Scale figures for boats, brands, value on display and attendance are the organizers' published figures and are attributed to them in the text. Day-by-day character, dining and logistics notes reflect our desk's direct participation in show weeks across multiple years. Parking details in the FAQ describe recent editions and are republished each year by the organizers.

Frequently Asked Questions
March 17 to 21, 2027, Wednesday through Sunday, along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach. The 2026 edition ran March 25 to 29, so the 2027 show lands about a week earlier in the month.
The organizers had not published 2027 ticket prices when this guide was last updated. Tickets sell through pbboatshow.com, and recent editions sold them online only, with no box office at the gates. This page carries the prices the day they publish.
In recent editions the show ran valet at Phillips Point, directed self-parking to the downtown garages at Esperante, Hibiscus and Datura, and ran a complimentary shuttle from remote lots. The organizers publish each year's parking plan with the tickets.
Windward VIP is the show's premium ticket tier. As announced for 2027 it carries early admission and access to the Windward Lounge. The lounge holds a premium open bar, a gourmet food program and sponsor activations.
Organizers report more than 55,000 visitors across the five days. The vessel range runs from small inflatables to superyachts past 200 feet. The show reads less like a retail event and more like a floating inventory of the whole market.
The Ben sits about three blocks from the docks and is the closest hotel of consequence on the West Palm Beach side. The Breakers, the Four Seasons and The Colony carry the island trade that week, and all of them book out well before the show opens.
In a marina community, on a private dock, or in a commercial slip. Admirals Cove in Jupiter is the fullest community answer in our footprint, and our water-position study found waterfront placement there carries roughly a 75 percent price premium over interior placement.
It is the traditional close at scale. The social season runs October through April, and after the show the pace eases while the polo calendar finishes in Wellington, where the U.S. Open Polo Championship final lands in mid-April.
